TC-3S (stainless steel for composite deck boards)

Product Description TC-3S > Heavy Gauge Stainless steel fastener with black oxide coating that creates an appearance that will better hide fastener between boards.

PRODUCT FEATURES & COMPATIBILITY

The TC-3S was developed specifically for use with composite or synthetic decking materials and medium density mahogany.

TC-3S will work in the following composite and synthetic decking lumber varieties:

ChoiceDek, Geo0 Deck, Moisture Shield ,Trex Accents, Trex Escapes, Tuf-Deck, Ultra Deck Hollow, Veka,, Weather Ready (Gossen)

TC-3S will work in the following medium density hardwood decking lumber varieties:

Cambara, Meranti, Other Medium Density Mahogany

*** TC-3S should NOT be used with the following types of decking:

Correct Deck, Ironwoods, Pressure Treated

PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS

When using Tiger Claw fasteners please review and comply with these requirements to obtain proper installation. Failure to follow these requirements may result in deck failure and/or void of warranty.

Inspect decking material prior to installation. Omit any planks that contain hooks, twists, splits, cracks, or other defects. Always install decking with the crown upward.

When using:

Fastener provides an automatic 3/16" spacing, but will accommodate up to 5/16". We recommend spacing according to the decking manufacturer specifications. Check the decking manufacturer’s installation guide for spacing details. If decking is less than 15/16" in thickness, pre drilling may be required. Test fasteners in decking before installation begins.

PLEASE NOTE:

Medium density hardwood decking, (ie; Mahoganies like Meranti and Cambara) are types of material that are more susceptible to movement depending on the climate in which it is used. Altitude, moisture content, humidity, and temperature are some factors to consider when selecting the proper gap for these types of decking material. Consult with your lumber provider to determine how the material will react to climate changes in your particular area and application. The TC-3 fastener is designed to better hand movement in these types of materials.
* TC-4S fasteners should not be used with these types of decking.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

TC-3S: Coated stainless steel hidden deck fastener

Recommended Materials: Use with most polyethylene based composites and vinyl decking (5/4” or thicker Trex, Veranda, Boardwalk…)

Appearance: Semi gloss black finish, rectangular body with horizontally oblong shaped hole along lower bend. Two sets of large opposing prongs on top. 3/16” spacing flanges on inner prongs.

Dimensions: .50” h x 2.00” w x 1.00” d

Material: .060 304 ¼ roll hardened stainless steel (Semi-magnetic) - Yield strength 64.5 kpsi - Tensile strength 145.7 kpsi

Or:

.060 201 ¼ roll hardened stainless steel (Semi-magnetic) - Yield strength 75 kpsi -Tensile strength 125 kpsi

Finish: Black oxide with sealer topcoat

Workability: All work can be done quickly from above using basic tools (hammer, screw gun, 1/8” drill bit, sledge hammer)

Gapping: TC-3S will automatically create a gap between each decking board slightly greater than 3/16”. With the use of spacers or shims, TC-3S can support gapping up to 5/16”

Expansion / Contraction: Fasteners are designed to allow decking to expand and contract naturally by sliding on the fastener prongs and still maintain hold down strength. From the point of installation, the TC-3S Fastener can handle expansion up to 1/8” and contraction up to 3/16”. The oblong shaped screw hole in the TC-3S is designed to allow for lineal expansion in composite deck boards.

Recommended Screw Used: Quality Stainless steel # 8 x 2” bugle head decking screw included in each box and project pail.

COVERAGE

Coverage Estimator - A fastener is needed at every intersection of a joist and decking board.

When using 5.5” decking with 16” on center joists:
90 pcs. box covers aprox. 50 sq. feet
900 pcs. bucket covers aprox. 500 sq. feet.
